Serial Killer Dating Game Contestant

Hearing of a serial killer dating game participant is troubling of course, but not nearly as upsetting as the true story of serial killer Rodney James Alcala.  He managed to manipulate the criminal justice system for years, leaving many young girls raped and murdered during his unjustified freedom.

After he was registered as a sex offender and during his murder spree, Alcala appeared as a contestant on the Dating Game in 1978.  He was selected as a date by the bachelorette.  Possibly to her benefit, it is said that she decided not to go out with him even though he was chosen as the winning bachelor.

Victims of the Serial Killer Dating Game Winner

The total number of victims of the charming but evil serial killer Rodney James Alcala is unknown.  Counts of potential victims range from seven to over one hundred.  He has been convicted in cases in California and New York, and is suspected in murders in Washington.

It took over forty years after Alcala's first known offense before justice was finally served to this monstrous man.  He was convicted of a lesser crime and served a little bit of time after he raped and beat an eight year old girl in 1968.  When law enforcement found the girl at Alcala's place of residence, they thought she was dead, but she miraculously survived the attack.

Later, he was convicted twice for the abduction and murder of a twelve year old little girl who he claimed as a victim back in 1979.  Both of the convictions were overturned on appeal.  Finally in 2010, when that case was retried with four other murders with advanced forensic evidence at hand, Alcala was convicted and sentenced to death.

During the investigation of the serial murders, photos and jewelry were found in a locker that Alcala had rented.  Some of the jewelry was tested and revealed DNA of some of the victims.  The photos revealed numerous potential victims that law enforcement is looking into in an attempt to uncover and identify victims of this serial killer.

Serial Killer Rodney James Alcala Methods of Murder

This serial killer dating game winner lost in the game of life.  He portrayed himself as a professional photographer to lure his victims.  His "portfolio" revealed that many people posed for him.  Some of the people in the photos have been identified, and some of the photos pointed to suspicions.

The proven murders committed by Alcala suggest that he used his photography skills as a ruse.  He is thought to have raped and strangled his victims.  There are suggestions that he strangled them repeatedly to unconsciousness letting them come to prior to killing them.  These methods categorize him as a sexually sadistic serial killer.
